The JCCIC (Joint Congressional Committee on Inaugural Ceremonies) is a special committee formed by the U.S. Congress every four years to oversee the planning and execution of the inauguration of the President and Vice President-elect at the Capitol Building. They’ve been responsible for this since 1901, following the guidelines set by the 20th Amendment to the Constitution.
After the election, the president-elect forms the Inaugural Committee who works with the JCCIC to organize the Inauguration and Inaugural events. Details for the festivities begin to form at this time and are relayed to the general public.
